The legendary conductor Vaclav Talich (1883 - 1961) who shaped the Czech Philharmonic over the course of entire decades recorded Dvorak's Slavonic Dances in 1955 at what was then Czechoslovak Television. It was his last work with the orchestra. Vaclav Talich said of his work: 'We conductors are a strange combination of self-confidence and humility when we face the composer whose work we are studying...' Inspired by Talich's life director Martin Suchanek recorded the documentary Confidence and Humility in which he covers the significant moments of the conductor's personal and artistic life. Features a rollicking live performance of Dvorak Slavonic Dances.
