1972 R-Point: what happened there? It's a strategically important island 150kms south of Ho Chi Minh City which every night receives a radio transmission pleading for help from a scouting unit of South Korean soldiers presumed lost some six months previously... With his tour of duty almost over combat veteran Choi Tae-in (Kam Woo-sung) is looking forward to going home. Now he must take the remaining members of his platoon on a seemingly simple search and rescue mission. However at the entrance to the island they find a headstone bearing the legend "No Return" and these nine men discover a place far more terrifying than any battle... After a year of researching the legend of the story followed by 3 years of developing the screenplay the film finally went into production in 2004. Focusing on suspenseful chills rather than the gore of war the film nonetheless highlights the hitherto forgotten role played by South Korean troops in the Vietnam conflict.
