During his stylistically diverse career Ian Matthews has seen commercial success come and go while always bouncing back in one way or another. Matthew first gained fame as a member of folk legends Fairport Convention where he shared lead vocal duties with Sandy Denny. He remained with Fairport for two albums including What We Did on Our Holidays (considered by many to be the band's best work). He eventually formed a band of (Matthews Southern Comfort) and scored a number one U.K. hit with a version of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock." Matthews continued to record and tour both as a solo act and with various bands throughout the 1970's and 80's and enjoyed a belated U.S. top twenty hit single with "Shake It" in 1979. He retains a loyal and devoted fanbase around the world.
